To browse the sources

    1. Access your section’s Source Base by Selecting “Access Empire’s Progeny” in the menu above and following the respective link to the source.
    2. You will see a list of all the sources.
    3. Click on the title of the source you wish to see
    4. This brings you to a page where you can download the source

NEATLINE MAP AND TIMELINE


To find the Map & Timeline

  1. Click on “Access Empire’s Progeny” above
  2. Follow link to the Map & Timeline and login via the Rutgers CAS system.  

To locate your source on the exhibit map

    1. Check on the map or in the left-hand list whether another student has already located the source
    2. If no, select New Record
    3. Select Item
    4. From the dropdown list, find and click the title of your source
    5. Then click Map
    6. Zoom the map to the location for your source
    7. Select Draw Point
    8. Click on the location on the map to place your point
    9. Click SAVE

To locate your source on the Neatline exhibit timeline

    1. Begin on the Neatline exhibit “Empire’s Progeny” (see instruction above)
    2. Find your source on the map or in the left-hand list
    3. Click Style
    4. Under “Widgets” select SIMILE Timeline
    5. Scroll down
    6. If you have only a single year to plot, write the year only under “Start Date”
    7. If your source covers a span of time, enter the “End Date”
    8. Click SAVE

To add your essay to the Neatline exhibit

    1. Begin on the Neatline exhibit “Empire’s Progeny”
    2. Find your source on the map or in the left-hand list
    3. Click Text
    4. Cut and Paste your essay under “Body” and after any contribution by a peer
    5. Click SAVE
